One of the first yoga books I ever picked up and read

It was summer 2011. At this time, I had a steady - BAPTISTE style yoga practice. A heated vinyasa style with a guided sequence that didn't change too much. Yoga, for me, during this period was physical - a workout. I don't think I had ever picked up a book on yoga.

In hindsight, I believe my yoga practice deepened during this time because I experienced the loss of someone dear to me.

Death. It hurts. It's raw.

So I took a chance - a risk. I applied to become a yoga instructor. A 200 hour foundational training is where most current yoga instructor trainings begin. So, I started to do a bit of research.

This is how I found Yoga Works.

The program, the history, the teachers looked legit. However, what was Iyengar and Ashtanga styles blended? It was foreign to me.

I got accepted - to study in Paris, France?

Little did I know, this would become my path for the next 15 years.

So teacher training - the program sends out a list of recommendation and required texts.

On it - "The Key Poses of Yoga" by Ray Long.

As I look down at this book today, I have found it to be a great reference and tool the past 15 years.

Its focus - Asana - functional anatomy in yoga.

We'll dive deeper into this text - a link - and why it's so awesome next post!

Can't wait to share this great read, it's a good one!
